Montmartre is described by many as being the authentic Parisian experience. That is why I picked it. The reason I recommend a hotel near the Champs-Élysées for first time visitors is; it's easier not to get lost. Of course it's fun to get lost in Montmartre when every bakery you walk into is better than any the entire city
you live in has.
